Course overview

This course, delivered by NHS Providers Board development programme in partnership with the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), is for NHS risk practitioners. The course aims to help improve knowledge and understanding of what good risk management looks like and how, as risk professionals, risk practitioners can proactively support NHS trusts to be more strategic and outward looking in relation to risk.

This course consists of nine half day modules delivered over seven training days. The intention is to develop a peer learning network within the training cohort, and therefore it is expected that each course participant attends all modules as part of the training. By booking on to this course, you are booking to attend each of the modules within the training.

The dates for the next cohort are:

Workshop 1, modules 1 & 2: Thursday 18 April 2024 (Full day, in-person event in London)

Workshop 2, modules 3 & 4: Friday 19 April 2024 (Full day, in-person event in London)

Workshop 3, module 5: Friday 3 May 2024 (9.30am - 1pm, virtual via MS Teams)

Workshop 7, module 9 & Awarding of certificates: Friday 5 July 2024 (Full day, in-person event in London)

Between the training dates, there will be practical assignments whereby course participants will be asked to take the learning from the training and apply it within their organisation, keeping a learning journal of their activities and reflections. The learning journal will be reviewed at the end of the programme by the course facilitators.

Delegates will have access to online tutor support between the training days to provide them with a safe space to discuss topics related to the course or their organisation’s ongoing risk matters if required.

Who should attend?

This course is not for those who already hold a recognised risk qualification.
