Key themes announced for Fighting Fit

30 June 2016

We are delighted to announce the key themes for this year's annual conference and exhibition, taking place in Birmingham on 29-30 November.

Fighting fit

The strands for Fighting fit have been developed in line with our members' areas of focus. The strand programme enables delegates to explore these key issues in further detail in a series of sessions which will include expert speakers from within and beyond the healthcare sector.

The themes are as follows:

Building capability

The provider landscape is changing with the emerging new models of care and sustainability and transformation plan footprints. Trusts face the twin challenges of continuing to deliver high quality services and at the same time making the changes needed to secure a sustainable future.

Delivery

Public confidence in the NHS is influenced by provider performance against core NHS constitutional targets. Faced with unprecedented demands on resources, maintaining grip on service delivery remains the most pressing challenge facing NHS boards.

Relationships

Relationships (good, bad or indifferent) between the different players within the health system, as well as with people outside of the ‘health bubble’, often have a crucial but difficult to define impact on the work of NHS providers. What are the solutions for working better with our stakeholders at local, national and regional level?

Transformation

The health and care system in England is at a pivotal moment in its history. The models of the past – revolutionary when the NHS was conceived – are no longer fit to meet people’s needs today. Our purpose now is not just to stop people from dying, but to enable them to live well.
