Governance conference 2016 - last chance to book!

29 June 2016

This year’s governance conference is fast approaching – don’t miss out on your chance to attend.

Taking place on 7 July in central London, this year’s event deals with the vital role of good governance in delivering sustainability and improvement.

We are delighted to have confirmed the full programme, which features speakers from across the provider sector and from the health sector more generally.

Governance, sustainability and improvement

Plenary speakers include the former chair of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Sir Michael Aaronson, who will explain how steadfast commitment to corporate governance has been central to the trust’s delivery of excellent services. Professor Paul Stanton, chief executive of Southminster Consultancy Associates, will discuss how current system changes create new governance challenges for boards. Other speakers include Adam Sewell-Jones, executive director of improvement at NHS Improvement, and NHS Providers chief executive Chris Hopson.

The plenary speakers will close the morning session by coming together for Q&A as a panel to allow more time for debate than in previous years.

Debate, learn and contribute

A series of breakout sessions will allow delegates to explore some of the key issues they are facing in detail. Highlights include:

The governance effect

The corporate governance team from Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust will show delegates how they have promoted a deep understanding of the ‘nature’ of governance within their organisation focusing on board intelligence, empowering staff and risk assurance.

Doing the right thing: directors’ duties in new care models

Tim Winn, partner at Mills & Reeve LLP will explore how to apply directors’ legal duties in more collaborative ways of working in an environment which is seeing providers and the partners strive to create more effective and efficient service through the development of new care models.

Cyber fraud and its impact on the NHS: how organisations can manager the risk

Specialists in cyber and data security will discuss why cyber risk management is becoming increasingly challenging in the healthcare sector, and how everyone has a role to play in cyber risk management.
